Please bear in mind the following points when putting your entry together:
• The goals and objectives of the initiative – these should be clearly measurable and linked to any evaluation
• The target audience – is it pharmacists, pharmacy support staff or pre-registration pharmacists?
• Implementation and delivery – concisely outline the stages involved
• Evaluation of the initiative’s effectiveness – show the success of the initiative, link it to the original objectives and support it with valid data and research
• Methods of assessment within the initiative – show how levels of knowledge and skill were increased by use of multiple choice questions or case studies, etc.
• Show that the training encouraged participation in CPD
• Where possible, show that the training matched externally set criteria.
You may provide examples of support material. Please ensure that any claims for the success of your initiative are supported by valid data and can be backed up by
credible research. Include clear evidence of achievement where possible and an explanation of why the achievement is significant or innovative. However, please note that the judging panel welcomes current and
ongoing programmes and will use their experience and expertise to assess their value to pharmacy.
It is important to stress that the judges will be looking for a clear statement of objectives and targets, supported by evidence that these targets were reached. For
example, with training, the targets may be to match externally set standards (e.g. NPA Training Seal or Seal of Excellence). If so, these should be stated with an indication of how these targets were measured. In other categories, sales growth may be the target. Again, this should be made clear and its achievement independently demonstrated in measurable terms.
